Clearing The Way

About Southern Grind Forestry Mulching

I’m Cole Gaitten, owner of Southern Grind Forestry Mulching and a United States Marine Corps veteran. After serving five years in the Marine Corps, I’m bringing the discipline, work ethic, and attention to detail I developed during my service to helping property owners throughout Northeast Florida.

I started Southern Grind with a clear goal: to help people reclaim their overgrown property through quality work, honest communication, and a practical approach to land management. Your property is an investment, and choosing someone to work on it requires trust. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, understand what the work involves, and know what to expect before a project begins.

Helping You Get More From Your Land

Overgrown vegetation can make land difficult to access, maintain, and enjoy. Whether you own a residential lot, rural acreage, or hunting property, Southern Grind can help open up the areas that matter to you while preserving the trees and natural features you want to keep.

Our services include:

  • Forestry mulching: Selectively clearing unwanted brush and woody vegetation, processing it into mulch on-site.

  • Brush removal: Reducing dense undergrowth to improve visibility, access, and ongoing property maintenance.

  • Fence-line clearing: Clearing vegetation along existing or planned fence lines to create room for installation, inspections, and repairs.

  • Trail creation: Opening paths for walking, recreational access, and movement throughout your property.

  • Hunting property improvements: Creating access trails, opening shooting lanes, and improving access to stands and other areas of your land.

Every project starts with understanding how you want to use your property. You may want a more open appearance around your home, access to a section of land you haven’t been able to reach, or selective clearing that maintains privacy. Those goals guide the work.

A Practical Approach to Forestry Mulching

Forestry mulching cuts and processes vegetation into a layer of mulch that remains on the ground. For suitable projects, this can reduce the need to collect and haul away the vegetation being mulched. The material gradually breaks down, returning organic matter to the soil.

This approach also allows for selective clearing. Rather than removing everything, we can focus on unwanted growth and work around designated trees. The amount of vegetation, ground conditions, access, and your desired finish all influence how the project is completed.

I’ll explain what forestry mulching can accomplish on your property and help set realistic expectations for the result. If your goals include construction preparation, root removal, or grading, we’ll discuss those needs so you understand where mulching fits into the larger project.

Veteran-Owned and Built on Accountability

My time in the Marine Corps taught me to take responsibility for my work, follow through on commitments, and pay attention to the details. Those principles are the foundation of Southern Grind Forestry Mulching.

My commitment is to communicate clearly, respect your property, and approach each project with care. That includes discussing the clearing boundaries, identifying what should remain, and making sure we share the same understanding of the job before work begins.

As the owner, I take personal pride in the business and the relationships I build with customers. I want Southern Grind to be a company you feel confident recommending to a neighbor, friend, or fellow landowner.
